In the second blog of her 3-part series on vectorization, Intel’s Shannon Cepeda answers the question of who can use it. She explains that vectorization is implemented using special instructions called SIMD (Single Instruction, Multiple Data) instructions, and that developers can access these special instructions in a variety of ways, for example, through their compiler, or a high-level language construct such as Intel® Cilk™ Plus.
